Where do you get your energy?

There Are Differences in Energy Drinks

Coffee Beans
Let's face it.  Energy drinks have been around for centuries with the coffee bean's discovery in the 13th century.  The legend of coffee's early origins point to a young man in Ethiopia who observed birds eating berries and then showing unusual vitality.  Trying the berries himself, he soon discovered, he too, experienced the same energizing effect.

Since then, coffee has spread around the world.  Depending on how it is processed, the amount of caffeine and energy can vary.  Surprising to many people, tea contains more caffeine than coffee when measured by dry weight, but since tea is normally made weaker than coffee, the typical cup of tea contains less caffeine than a cup of coffee.

Recognizing the huge market demand for high energy, many companies have jumped onto the "quick energy" bandwagon.  The first energy drink was produced in Japan in the 1960s and the fact that it helped fight fatigue and made one more productive soon had it spreading across Asia and Europe.    By 1987, an Austrian company developed a variation called Red Bull, which became extremely popular.  By 1997, Red Bull had made its way to America and was soon followed by Monster Energy and Rockstar.

Concerns have since been raised about the safety of these energy drinks.  A cup of coffee can contain 95 - 200 mg of caffeine, depending on how it is processed, whereas some of these energy drinks can contain upward of 500 mg of caffeine!  These extremely high levels of caffeine can cause a high jolt to the metabolism, which can result in a heart attack for those with pre-existing heart conditions.

In addition, to high caffeine levels, these drinks often contain high levels (up to 54 grams) of simple sugars, resulting in high-blood glucose levels. Complex-carbohydrates will break down slowly, fueling your brain over a long period of time and increasing your concentration.  However, simple sugars flood the blood with glucose, resulting in a "sugar high" which later is followed by a "sugar low" and a crashing feeling.  The daily sugar intake recommended for woman is 24 grams and 36 grams for men.

Healthy Energy

So what is a person to do?  With so many demands on our time, energy and concentration, how can we be as productive as we need to be?  There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking for foods or drinks to help us accomplish all we need to do in our lives.  Even Dr. Oz has been known to do segments on his t.v. show on healthy foods that can be eaten mid-afternoon to boost energy and concentration.

Verve - Insanely Healthy
One alternative is the Verve Energy juice, which IS insanely healthy.  First, Verve contains one ounce of the Vemma liquid nutrition.  The Vemma liquid contains 12 full-spectrum vitamins, as well as over 65 major, trace and ultra-trace ionic, life-giving nutrients, which provides protection from cellular damage.  Vemma can definitely back up its claims of healthy nutrition due to the independent, double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted by the Brunswick Laboratories in Norton, MA.  "The studies confirmed Vemma showed significant improvements in immune markers, superior antioxidant absorption and a lowering of C-reactive protein (CRP), which points to its beneficial effects on overall health and wellness."*

The energy from Verve is derived  from its fast-acting amino acid blend of natural guarana (80 mg caffeine) and energy-enhancing nutrients, providing long-lasting energy without high sugar or excess caffeine.  Verve contains 18 grams of sugar, which is just a little more than in an apple.  This sugar is in the form of fructose (not to be confused with high fructose corn syrup), an all-natural sweetener that has the lowest Glycemic index of any of the simple sugars.

Quite simply, Verve, with its tropical-fruity juice, contains 3 powerful products:
  • a refreshing, fast-acting energy blend
  • an ultra-premium vitamin and mineral supplement
  • a powerful super-juice with mangosteen and aloe phytonutrients.
If you or your teenagers live on energy drinks, you can now have a healthy source of energy with the Verve product line without the "sugar-high" or "sugar-crash."  However, you will not find Verve in your typical grocery store, BUT you can order it from an independent Brand Partner.  Simply click on the "Order My Verve" button below, then select the Verve option from the menu on the left.  Then make your choice of Energy Drink, Bold, Zero Sugar or Par Tea!
